Pente, A Book of Woe by John Wieners is the amended edition of the 1964 collection Ace of Pentacles.
This publication is a carrying out of the Poet's wishes; the new edition is amended according to his own copy of the Ace of Pentacles with his hand written changes, including the new title for the book Pente, A Book of Woe.
Wieners wrote in editing the 1964 collection, in his own hand, "I'm making plans for my death now, isn't it strange, if I die this [copy] is to go to anyone who’s interested in doing a second edition of the work.". He was preparing for this to be his final collection.
